Trung tâm Hội nghị Quốc gia Việt Nam (NCC) nằm trên ngã tư đường Láng- Hòa Lạc và đường Phạm Hùng, cách trung tâm Thủ đô Hà Nội 10 km về phía tây nam, phía trước nhìn ra đường Láng-Hòa lạc (hướng nam), phía đông tiếp giáp đường Phạm Hùng, phía tây giáp khu dân cư xã Mễ Trì, Từ Liêm, Hà Nội.
Do yêu cầu cần có một trung tâm Hội nghị xứng tầm với vị thế quốc gia, NCC đã được khởi công xây dựng vào ngày 15/11/2004 và hoàn thành trong thời gian 22 tháng.

NCC được đánh giá là một trong ba trung tâm Hội nghị lớn nhất khu vực Đông Nam Á hiện nay. Là trung tâm đầu tiên và duy nhất của Việt Nam được xây dựng dựa trên công nghệ tiên tiến và hiện đại bậc nhất hiện nay, NCC được coi là một công trình trọng điểm của đất nước, có kiến trúc đẹp, hài hòa, hạ tầng kỹ thuật đồng bộ, vừa hiện đại phù hợp với tiêu chuẩn quốc tế, vừa mang đậm tính dân tộc, là biểu tượng về kiến trúc của Việt Nam trong thế kỷ mới.

NCC hiện nay là một đơn vị sự nghiệp độc lập có tài khoản, có con dấu riêng trực thuộc Văn phòng Chính phủ, là nơi tổ chức các đại hội và hội nghị lớn của Đảng, Nhà nước, các tổ chức chính trị, xã hội, các hội nghị, hội thảo quốc tế, các sự kiện chính trị, kinh tế, văn hóa, xã hội có ý nghĩa quốc gia và quốc tế. Với nhiều lợi thế về hội trường, phòng họp, sảnh, khuôn viên, giao thông, an ninh, đội ngũ cán bộ…, NCC luôn là đích đến của các nhà tổ chức những sự kiện tầm cỡ quốc gia và quốc tế.
